Quoter Network is committed to protecting the privacy of the readers who visit this site. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how long we retain it, and the rights you have over it under the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018.

What we collect

We collect the minimum data required to operate the site. That comprises three categories.

Analytics data: When you visit any page on this site, our analytics service records the URL requested, the referring URL, an anonymised approximation of your IP address, your user-agent string, and the timestamp. This is used to understand which content readers find useful and to identify technical issues. It cannot be used to identify you personally.

Cookies: This site sets a small number of first-party cookies used to remember whether you have dismissed the cookie banner and to preserve your preferences across a session. We do not set advertising cookies. Third-party analytics cookies are set only if you accept them via the cookie banner on your first visit.

Contact data: If you email us, the message and your email address are stored in our email system. We use this only to respond to your enquiry and we do not add contact addresses to any mailing list without your explicit request.

How long we retain data

Analytics data is retained in aggregated form for twenty-six months, after which it is deleted. Cookies expire either at the end of your browser session or, for the preference cookie, after twelve months. Email correspondence is retained for as long as necessary to respond to your enquiry, and is deleted at your request or, at the latest, three years after the last exchange.

Third parties

We use a small number of third-party services to operate the site. These include our hosting provider, our analytics provider, and our email provider. Each is bound by the same data-protection obligations that apply to us. We do not sell, rent or otherwise share reader data with any advertising network, marketing partner or data broker.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to request access to the personal data we hold about you, to request correction of any inaccurate data, to request erasure of your data where legally permissible, to object to processing, and to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office. Requests can be made by emailing [email protected] and we will respond within one calendar month.

Changes to this policy

We may amend this policy from time to time. Material changes will be flagged at the top of the page for thirty days following the change. The most recent version is always the one published here.
